Hey guys and girls, here’s what I have been doing instead of plain running/jogging – running drills.
If you’re not acquainted with the term running drills are basically a set of running exercises, which often professional athletes practice in order to improve the technique of their running and the overall physical condition of their leg muscles.
I will link you this video from Suunto to see the set of drills I am doing. As you see from the old chap’s ripped legs in the video, doing drills is a very effective form of exercise.
I prefer running drills to plain running because it exercises a lot wider range of motion of the legs, it provides a lot more muscle resistance and versatility in movement. Plus, it’s a lot more interesting and stimulating to do than just bobbing up and down endlessly. I noticed that my heart rate jumps a lot – 160 bpm, almost up to my maximum, when I’m doing drills even though it doesn’t feel super exhausting. You could easily spend 20 minutes doing something like this and not feel wasted, but energized in the end.
